Shanklin is one of the Isle of Wight’s most popular seaside resorts on the South coast. The golden sandy beach, traditional old village and Shanklin Chine make it one of the most desirable places to visit. Whatever your age or interest, there are lots of things to do. Shanklin Esplanade is lined with all the traditional British seaside attractions you would expect and more: a large amusement arcade and an indoor crazy golf for rainy days.
Along the esplanade you will find a pirate themed crazy golf park that even sports a waterfall of ‘blood’ and for those dinosaur fans a Jurassic crazy golf park too. There are seaside cafes, bars, restaurants and traditional beach shops selling everything from newspapers and books to inflatable boats and wet suits. All this makes Shanklin the perfect place to while away your day.
The historic heart of Shanklin, now known as Shanklin Old Town, is a picturesque area of thatched properties and old stone buildings. Whilst taking in the spectacular views you could enjoy a delicious cream tea or a refreshing pint before picking up some holiday gifts from the various boutique shops.
Shanklin Chine is a wonderful natural gorge with dramatic waterfalls and a beautiful nature trail which for sheer beauty and charm, has to be seen to be believed.
Rylstone Gardens provide the most tranquil and beautiful spot to sit with a picnic and soak up the sunshine. Look out for the extensive programme of events at the Bandstand located in the gardens.
